Being Real is More Important than Being Polished

Updated: May 19, 2020

How many times have you let an opportunity to share something with someone pass because you were too worried that what you had to offer wasn’t “ready” or “good enough”? And how many times have you been MORE impressed with someone who just went for it anyway, and let their heart lead instead of their head?

When I ask myself those same questions, I realize a few things:

- Perfection is a false goal

- Being real is more important that being polished

- Mistakes are infinitely more interesting!

So, with all that said, welcome to my VERY FIRST BLOG POST! Am I really “ready” to do this? Heck no! But I trust that despite this, I will be forgiven. (Are we really ever ready??? LOL)

First of all, THANK YOU for clicking on whatever you clicked to land here. I’m grateful that you are choosing to spend some of your precious and valuable time interacting with me! And I invite you to share your feedback, send suggestions for what you’d like to hear about, and let me know who you are :)

Here’s what you can expect:

VARIETY!

I will write about health, life, motivation, energy, resilience, goals, cancer recovery, observations, humanity, food, exercise, decision making, motherhood, family, and community. I will share my experiences and I will welcome your feedback and interaction.

MESS UPS!

I’ll be the first to admit I’m learning as I go. YEP, I have the background, education and experience supporting me, AND I fully embrace that what I write about can’t possibly resonate with all of you, all of the time. I will speak from what I know and what I’m learning and trust God with the rest. (Actually, mess-ups are the proverbial gold… hmm, that sounds like a great title for a blog post...)

CONSISTENCY!

I’m committing to a minimum of two blog articles per month. BOOM. There it is in writing. No running and hiding! A little accountability goes a LONG way.

HONESTY & AUTHENTICITY

If I don’t know something, I’ll say so. Then I’ll go on a research binge to figure it all out, and curate what I learned and share it!

As I’m writing this, it’s a very special day for me, because two years ago, on 5/17/17, I officially became CANCER FREE. I could never have imagined on that day what was coming next for me, in terms of my life’s path. Having experienced breast cancer and surgeries and chemotherapy and all that goes with it, my entire existence shifted. I’m happy, SO VERY HAPPY, to be on the other side of it all. My decision – wait, no – my calling - to being a Health Coach, is deeply rooted in all of my life experiences, but especially having had cancer. Everything became crystal clear for me as to what I was put on this earth to do. So… I’mma gonna DO IT. And I invite and welcome you to join me on this beautiful adventure!
